When it comes to achieving a perfect result, pre-drilling or countersinking should be done before the stainless steel wood screws are inserted. In too hard wood, the decking screws can tighten and the head can break off. Pre-drilling also prevents the splitting of the wood plank. Additionally, there are no unsightly cracks in the area of the decking screws.
